This term has flown by and we are just days away from the end of the term and some well earned holidays. I wish everyone a safe break and look forward to seeing you all back and ready to go on Monday October 14.
I would ask anyone that sees suspicious behaviour within or around the school grounds over the holiday period to contact Education Security on 9264 4771. I would also urge students to stay away from the school grounds during the holidays.
2020
Kindergarten places are filling fast. If you know of any families with children eligible for Kindergarten next year, children born between 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016, please encourage them to get in as soon as possible. A reminder to parents, that as Kindergarten is not a compulsory year of schooling places are capped (for all schools) even if you are in area. Ellenbrook has a history of demand exceeding available places across the various primary schools so be quick to secure your spot.
If you are leaving us at the end of the year it would help our planning if you could please advise the ladies in the front office at the earliest opportunity. This will assist us as we will begin making decisions on staffing, classrooms etc by the middle of term 4.
Sports Carnival
A big thank you to Mrs McCabe for all her organisation and the staff for helping the students prepare for the day’s events. The Faction Carnival was a great day with students demonstrating our ARBOR Values and participating to the best of their ability.
It was a pleasure seeing so many parents, grandparents and friends supporting the children as they undertook the various races and team games.
Congratulations to the P&C for running a fantastic stall on the day offering good food, drinks and a range of raffles.
Interschool Carnival
Good luck to all those students that have been selected to represent the school this Wednesday and Friday at the Interschool Sports Carnival. Whilst winning is nice I would like to remind our students that it’s about doing your best and good sportsmanship.
NAPLAN
Students in year 3 and 5 will have received their NAPLAN results from the testing completed earlier in the year. Any parents with concerns or questions are encouraged to speak with their child’s classroom teacher.
Rainbow Run
I am very excited about the changes for this year’s Lapathon event with our first P&C “Rainbow Run” on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. It was fantastic tackling the obstacle course with the students and getting showered in the various “rainbow” of colours.
Wouldn’t it be fantastic if every student could raise $10 for the Rainbow Run and that would give the P&C over $7000 to donate to the school that can be put towards resources and more playground equipment for students.
Breakfast Club
The Groves Grub Breakfast Club seems to be getting better and better (if that was possible). I would encourage all families to keep an eye out for the regular connect notices advising you of the “weekly special”.
Breakfast Club is a great initiative and I thank the dedicated group of staff that donate their time and effort every week to providing a range of breakfast offerings, other than the weekly special. Please remember breakfast is available to all students (no charge) even if they have eaten at home. Parents who are dropping students off are also welcome to share in a bite to eat if they wish.
