COVID
Parents are reminded that we are still in Phase 4 easing of restrictions and as such we remind parents/carers and visitors that whilst they may access the school grounds physical distancing of one adult per two square metres and good hygiene practices still apply.
Faction Carnival
After reviewing the Phase 4 restrictions, guidance provided to schools by the Education Department, and considering the logistics and health issues a decision was made to change the format for the 2020 Faction Carnival. This information was sent home to all families on Friday.
Each school is managing the challenges posed by Faction Carnivals differently, however we are all focussed on doing our best to provide this key school event in the safest and most inclusive way during these challenging circumstances.
On behalf of the school I would like to thank our parents for being understanding and for their continued support of the school during the COVID19 pandemic.
Changes in Term 4 to End of Day Processes
In the last newsletter I mentioned our increasing concern for the safety of the students who depart from the front of the school due to the number of parents parking on the verge, stopping in areas that are not safe and treating the road at the front of the school as a “kiss and drive”.
We appreciate the efforts of the City of Swan Rangers in increasing their policing of the situation and education of our families with respects to parking and safety around the school. We do, however, note that the concerning driver behaviours are continuing.
After lengthy discussion amongst the staff and other stakeholders the school has decided to trial a change to the departure arrangements. During term 4 we will trial not opening the front gates in the afternoon, and instead have children leave via the side gates on Brookmount Drive (opposite the daycare) and from the bottom gates that open onto the oval. Please refer to the diagram below and the blue arrows.
This trial will run for the whole of term 4. Whilst this may present some minor short term inconvenience or change to routines I am sure parents will support the school in its efforts to improve the safety of the students and avoid an injury to a student.
Planning for 2021 has begun. Places in our kindergarten classes for 2021 are filling fast so I would urge any interested families to get their enrolments in.
Should you be leaving us at the end of the year please advise the front office at the earliest opportunity. This information helps us in our planning for next year.
Early in term 4 parents will be given the opportunity to submit classroom requests. As with previous years these will need to be based around the academic or social needs of your child.
Before / After School
I would like to remind all parents and students that the Nature Play, the play area at the back of the Science Room and the Megatoy are out of bounds before and after school. Students arriving before 8.30am are to sit outside the Library or with their parents outside their classroom.
We hope that the next easing of COVID19 restrictions, when they are announced, will allow us to recommence allowing parents to stay until 3.30pm to supervise their children playing on the Megatoy and on the playground behind the Science Room. The Nature Play, however, will remain out of bounds after school.

Rooms 1 and 3
In Room 1 and 3 we have had a MATHS-sive term! In Numeracy we have been learning all about the days of the week, money, 2D and 3D shapes and parts of a whole. We have enjoyed learning about these concepts through hands on experiences.

Foodbank Drive and Raffle
Thank you so much for your generosity in donating food to our Foodbank Drive, we have been overwhelmed with the amount of food coming in over a short period of time. Please remember the Foodbank Drive continues for the rest of this term so please, if you have not had the chance to donate, there is still time. Also, thank you for dropping off the recipes. We look forward to using them in our Arbor Grove cookbook. Just like the Foodbank Drive, we will be accepting recipes for the rest of this term. Food and recipes can be dropped off at room 8.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact either Anjay.Quinn@education.wa.edu.au or Rebecca.Hawkins@education.wa.edu.au

Canteen
The canteen would like to thank everyone that has continued to support our school canteen. It has been great to see so many orders coming through Flexischools. This has helped the canteen save time and money. If you are having problems with Flexischools please contact Jenni in the Canteen.
The staff have loved seeing the students return to the canteen at recess.
We are still looking for more people to help in the canteen (especially on Fridays). If you can’t help for the whole day that is fine. The busiest times are over recess (10.30am to 11.30am) and just prior to lunch (12.00pm to 1.30pm). Please contact Jenni (in the canteen) if you are able to volunteer or for more information.
Canteen Open – Online lunch orders and recess (cash taken at recess) Thursday and Friday.
