I would like to welcome everyone back for what will be a very busy term 4 and hope that everyone had a good break.
For our year 6 students this marks the start of their last term with us. I know the year 6 teachers are busy organising a memorable graduation and end of year activities for these students.
Our year 5 and 6 students have swimming lessons at the beach to look forward to later in the term when the weather is starting to warm up. This should be a great experience for the students, particularly given the role that the sea plays in the Australian lifestyle.
It will be very important that all families keep a regular eye on our webpage and on the newsletter to ensure that they don’t miss any of the activities.
2022
It is very important that families that are leaving us this year let the school know at the earliest opportunity. This information will be essential to ensure the accuracy of our planning and preparations for 2022.
Class Placement Requests
I would ask that any parents with specific requests for 2022 submit these to the Principal marked “Private & Confidential” by the close of business Friday October 29. Only written requests with an educational focus will be considered and whilst we endeavour to satisfy parent requests it is important to note that the school cannot guarantee this.
After School Play
Whilst we do not discourage parents from spending some time after school with their children playing on the school playgrounds we would like to remind parents that they must supervise their children during this time. Please note that the external access gates are locked at 3.30pm most days.

Rooms 16 and 18
In Rooms 16 and 18, we have been learning about Non-Chronological Reports. We have been following the new whole school writing program, Talk 4 Writing. The Talk 4 Writing approach allows children to read and write independently for a variety of audiences and purposes within different contexts. A key feature is that children internalise the language structures needed to write by ‘talking the text’.
We have been memorising the text “The Arbor Club Tail” by making a story map and actions. As a class, we innovated the text to create “The Kings Park Troll”. Finally, the students then invented their own Non-Chronological Reports about a mythical creature. Some students wrote about Cerberuses, Phoenixes, Angels, Devils and Unicorns. As of week two, you can read our Non-Chronological Reports in the library.

Are you new to Arbor Grove or looking to get involved with our school community or just always wondered what the P&C was all about?
P&C meetings are a great way to have a say and help shape our school and community. It also provides a wonderful opportunity to meet school staff, other parents and to hear firsthand about anything that might be happening around the school.
The meetings usually last an hour or so and children are welcome to attend.
You do not have to be a P&C member to attend either.

Book Club
Issue 7 is due out soon and it will be our last issue of Book Club for 2021.
As there are lengthy delays with deliveries from the eastern states, catalogues and book orders are not arriving like we once knew. This will be your last chance if you are looking for a few extra special gifts for birthdays, Christmas or other celebrations.
Be sure to select the GIFT option and place your order by the due date. Your GIFT order will not go to your child’s class but left at the front office for you to collect. Eliminating spoiling that surprise.
If you have any questions, please contact Rhiannon at agpsbookclub@outlook.com.au
