School holidays are just around the corner and I wish everyone a safe break and look forward to seeing you all back and ready to go on Tuesday 23 July.
I would ask anyone that sees suspicious behaviour within or around the school grounds over the holiday period to contact Education Security on 9264 4771. I would also urge students to stay away from the school grounds during the holidays.
Next term is very busy with many highlights including;
- NAIDOC,
- Book Week,
- Sports Carnival and
- Lapathon
Please ensure that you keep abreast of all these activities by checking our website regularly and viewing newsletters.
Pyjama Day
It was great to see so many students and staff in their Pyjamas or Onesies last Friday. It is great for our students to raise money for those organisations that support those in need in our community.
Winter Carnival
Good luck to all of our year 5/6 sporting teams this Friday at the Winter Carnival. I am sure you will show your Arbor Values and I think mother nature will ensure some wintery weather for you all.
Reports
Just a reminder that reports will again be distributed via email this year in week 10. If you require a printed copy please contact the school at the earliest opportunity.
Early Close on Wednesdays in 2020
As mentioned in the last newsletter, the school, with the approval of the School Board, will be introducing an early close (2.30pm) on a Wednesday from the start of the 2020 school year. This will bring Arbor Grove Primary School into alignment with the other Ellenbrook schools (primary and high schools).
The benefits of bringing Arbor Grove into alignment with all other Ellenbrook schools is:
- Supports Wednesday being the day for meetings and in school collaboration sessions;
- Supports the Teachers to engage in professional learning opportunities within the Ellenbrook Network of schools;
- Reduce the number of high school students on the site on a Wednesday afternoon.
Attendance
It is very important for students to attend school every day. We have a raffle for students with 100% attendance between each assembly.
Whilst we would like every student to be here every day we do understand that children get sick and we do thank parents for keeping sick children at home.
The following table outlines the long-term reduction in learning frequent absences create.
