Breakfast Club
It is fantastic to see that breakfast club has recommenced. Just a reminder to all that breakfast club will run on Tuesday and Thursday next week and recommence in Term 3.
Thank you to Mrs Quinn and her band of helpers for putting on breakfast club each week.
COVID and Flu
Parents are reminded to keep children with the flu, a cold, cold like symptoms or COVID home so as to avoid the risk of spreading the illness.
Swimming Lessons
Congratulations to all of the students that participated in swimming lessons. The feedback from all of the teachers was very positive particularly when discussing how every student was trying their best. Well done to all.
A special thank you to Mr Williams for his organisation of the fortnight.
Winter
Now winter has arrived and with that will come rain and colder days. I would encourage all students to ensure they have some warm clothing (preferably not hoodies) with their names in them ready for the colder days.
Congratulations
We are very excited that four of our teachers have announced that they are expecting babies before the end of the year. Congratulations to Ms Hoare, Ms Horvath, Mrs Ellen and Mrs Daglish.
These teachers will be leaving us at various stages of Semester 2 and we have begun the task of identifying replacement teachers and ensuring a smooth handover can occur so as to cause the least disruption to classes.

Room 4
Talk For Writing
We have had so much fun in Talk for Writing. This term we have been learning the story ‘A Squash And A Squeeze’. We have been drawing our story map and learning the actions to our model text. The children thoroughly enjoyed coming up to the front of class with a partner and reciting the whole story with the actions. We will continue to focus on this and also start writing our own narrative to the story using our own characters, setting and adjectives.
Mathematics
Our mathematics focus so far has been skip counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. We have also been learning to bridge to 10, addition and subtraction strategies and patterns. We have been looking at all the ways we can use objects to help us solve math problems. We have been using blocks, our fingers, counters, teddy bears, ten frames and a few other strategies to help us.
Room 6 Learning and Fun
Thank You P&C for our Shady Tables!
Year 1 and 2 from Room 6, enjoyed Crunch ‘n’ Sip at the shady tables near the Small oval (behind Parent Centre). It was a glorious sunny morning and we were very comfortable as we snacked. Thank you to the P & C who funded these wonderful additions around our school.
Narrative Writing
Our writing over the past few weeks has been based on the narrative “The Magic Porridge Pot”.
Students in room 6 have followed the framework of a narrative to retell the story. We have even begun writing our own version of the story changing characters and setting.
Premier's Reading Challenge
Join the adventure!
We encourage you to join us in unlocking the wonderful world of reading for your children. Help them to join the Premier’s Reading Challenge. Will they fly above the clouds, dive into the ocean or jump into a rocket ship? All students from Kindergarten to Year 10 are challenged to read 12 books by 9 September 2022.
You can help your children sign up via the website, choose their own avatar and log all the books they read over the course of the Challenge. Weekly prizes will be awarded to students who log a book that week, with major prizes drawn when the challenge ends.
Books don’t have to be in English – children are encouraged to read books in their first language.
There are extraordinary tourism prizes to be won each week.
Sign up your children on the website to begin their magical journey.

The success of the P&C depends on the involvement of the parents and the wider school community. A successful P&C can add immeasurably to the success and appeal of the school through ensuring that students have access to the best resources available and that parents are both informed and have a voice.
All members of the school community are welcomed and encouraged to get involved in the P&C. This does not necessarily mean that you need to take an official role.
Picture Products
We’re delighted to be giving our Arbor Grove Primary School children the chance to take part in an Australian childhood tradition. Picture Products turn your child’s art into useful objects that look fantastic and last for years. They’re fun to make, fun to use and tough enough to last thousands of washes without cracking or fading.
You and your children can choose to create a range of products, including Plates (made of food-safe, dishwasher-safe melamine), Calendars, Clocks, Phone cases and more. We've been given a sample plate to display, and the quality is fantastic - bright, glossy and tough. Even better, all the products are made in Australia.
Check out the plate on display in the P&C notice board outside the library.
Don’t miss out! Orders are due by 17 June 2022. Once paid, you will receive a template to create your artwork at home, with templates due back by 24 June 2022.
The estimated delivery of products is early September 2022.
Extra order forms can be found in the office.

Canteen Closure
After long deliberation we regret to advise the P&C will no longer be running the school canteen. There were many factors that went into this decision. With the lack of volunteers, the rising costs and the persistent challenges that have been arising around covid and equipment issues, the canteen is no longer financially viable.
The canteens closing will allow the collective P&C to focus entirely on projects that will make a lasting impact on our school’s future. We have been an enthusiastic part of the school community for almost 20 years, and we are excited for the future opportunities.
We hope to organise regular special order days, each term in conjunction with local businesses. This will be an exciting new opportunity for our kids and we are looking forward to your ongoing support. Keep an eye out this week for what we have planned for the end of this term.
We would like to take this moment to thank all our volunteers, children, parents, grandparents and carers who have supported us over the years. Without you the canteen would not have been possible.
A very special thanks to Jenni, who for many years was the embodiment of the canteen. Jenni made the canteen a special part of our school that will never be forgotten by those who met her.
In regard to those students still with canteen vouchers, we would appreciate if you could contact Amy via arborgrovep-c@hotmail.com so that we can ensure those vouchers are honoured.
