Well we are almost at the end of Term 2 and what a busy term it has been!
Winter Carnival
Congratulations to all of the students in years 5 and 6 that represented the school at the winter carnival. Despite the wet, windy and wintery weather I have been advised the students enjoyed the day and showed great sportsmanship.
Term 3
Whole school assemblies are going to return in Term 3. Final details are being organised with staff and the timetable set. It will be great to see these assemblies return and have the parents joining us.
Term 3 will have a number of very exciting activities and I encourage all families to keep their eyes out for details in future Newsletters and via Connect.
Staff Changes
Mrs Butcher will be leaving us at the end of Term 2 as she and her family are moving. I would like to thank Mrs Butcher for her many years of service to the school both as an Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer, Aboriginal Languages Teacher and Board Member. Mrs Seymour will be taking over the Aboriginal Languages role for the remainder of the year whilst we complete a recruitment process.
We look forward to welcoming back Mrs Brosnan, Mrs Hawkins and Mr Elliott in Term 3 and we extend a warm welcome to Mrs Diaz who has joined us for the remainder of the year.
FAST
Our Families and School’s Together (FAST) program, which we run in partnership with CLAN Midland, is nearing completion. Congratulations to those families that have completed the program. I hope you enjoy your “graduation” next week. I would like to thank CLAN for supporting the school with this incredible program. I would also like to thank my staff that help as members of the FAST team and as volunteers on the night. FAST is a real team effort.
Happy Holidays
I would like to wish every family a safe and enjoyable term break. I hope you avoid COVID and the flu, and that you all get to relax and have some fun. Students are requested to avoid coming onto the school site over the break.

In Focus
Room 19 and 21
This term in Year 5 for History, we have been learning about the Swan River Colony and the major changes that occurred during that time that impacted the colonies. One of the tasks we have completed was to research one significant event that impacted settlement. We all chose our own event and researched the event in detail. From there, we created a news report based on that event. Some of the events we chose were Myall Creek, The Gold Rush, The Battle of Pinjarra and The Frontier Conflicts. These significant events impacted settlement in a variety of ways, whether it was social, political, or financial.
Below are some samples of our work. Room 19 show you the planning they did whilst Room 21 show you the finished product!

Premier’s Reading Challenge
Join the adventure!
We encourage you to join us in unlocking the wonderful world of reading for your children. Help them to join the Premier’s Reading Challenge. Will they fly above the clouds, dive into the ocean or jump into a rocket ship? All students from Kindergarten to Year 10 are challenged to read 12 books by 9 September 2022.
You can help your children sign up via the website, choose their own avatar and log all the books they read over the course of the Challenge. Weekly prizes will be awarded to students who log a book that week, with major prizes drawn when the challenge ends.
Books don’t have to be in English – children are encouraged to read books in their first language.
There are extraordinary tourism prizes to be won each week.
Sign up your children on the website to begin their magical journey.
Kindergarten Enrolments 2023
Kindergarten enrolments for 2023 are open for children who turn four years of age by 30 June 2023 and places are filling fast. We urge all families to secure their spot as soon as possible to avoid being on the waiting list. Please also spread the word to friends or family members that live in our catchment area and have a child eligible to attend. Applications close 22 July 2022.
Pre Primary Enrolments
We still have a number of families of current Kindergarten students yet to submit their Application for Enrolment forms for Pre Primary. These need to be returned to the office by Friday 22 July, together with proof of address and an updated Immunisation History Statement. Please note your child’s enrolment into Pre Primary will not be guaranteed without this documentation. If you have any queries please contact the office.
