It was wonderful to see all the students engaged last week in activities and events that enhance their cultural understanding of First Nations people.
The NAIDOC assembly was amazing with a welcome to country by Sandra Harben and great performances by the Ellenbrook College dancers.
We now have a wonderful mural depicting the six seasons created by artist Kevin Bynder near the bike racks. The students had the opportunity to chat with Mr Bynder while he painted.
Mrs Wight our AIEO will now be working with students to revive the native garden in front of the mural. Thanks so much to Bunnings Ellenbrook for donating bush tucker plants for the garden.

Book Week 2022
STOP DROP AND READ
A new initiative we have started this year is a stop, drop and read. Each day an anonymous staff member read a book over the PA system. The children had to guess who the speaker was and at the end of the week, those who won got a special reward of extra recess time. The children had a great time guessing and the majority of classes were 100% correct. A special shout out to those teachers who were the anonymous readers. It was fabulous listening to all the characters voices.
Book Week Dress Up and Parade
On Wednesday we asked the children to come dressed in their favourite book character. We did a parade around our central grass area to show off our costumes. It was a great event that was celebrated by dancing, singing and laughing. A special thankyou to the families for supporting the students with their dress up. They all looked fabulous!
Talk/Dress Like a Pirate Day!
This Term we will be fundraising for Childhood Cancer with Talk/Dress like a Pirate Day. On Monday 19 September come dressed in your best pirate outfit, bring a gold coin donation and have some pirate fun!

Professor Maths Incursion
This week we had some fun during our Professor Maths Incursion. Each class attended a session in the undercover area over the last 3 days and completed some fun problem solving tasks. The students completed tasks in groups and each time they completed a task they were able to dress up as professors of math!
Premier’s Reading Challenge
Join the adventure!
We encourage you to join us in unlocking the wonderful world of reading for your children. Help them to join the Premier’s Reading Challenge. Will they fly above the clouds, dive into the ocean or jump into a rocket ship? All students from Kindergarten to Year 10 are challenged to read 12 books by 9 September 2022.
You can help your children sign up via the website, choose their own avatar and log all the books they read over the course of the Challenge. Weekly prizes will be awarded to students who log a book that week, with major prizes drawn when the challenge ends.
Books don’t have to be in English – children are encouraged to read books in their first language.
There are extraordinary tourism prizes to be won each week.
Sign up your children on the website to begin their magical journey.
