We are heading into the final weeks of Term 4 and planning for the end of year events such as Graduation and our Presentation Assembly are well advanced. I encourage all parents to keep abreast of information relating to these events via Connect and in future newsletters. It is so exciting to think that we will have no restrictions on parent participation at these events this year.
Class Placement 2023
We are hard at work preparing and reviewing classes for next year with the teachers. Students will be advised of their teacher and classroom for 2023 at the start of week 10. It is important to remind parents that our classes in 2023 will all be full and it is very unlikely that we will entertain any request for a student to change class.
Hats
It is disappointing to see so many students without hats. Could parents please ensure that their child(ren) has a school hat with their name on them. This will ensure that, as the weather improves, all students can play outside in the sun not to mention participate in all the physical education lessons.
Abor Grove Cookbook
So far the school has sold over 120 copies of the school cookbook. The book is full of savoury and sweet recipes provided by the staff and families of the school. At $5 they are a bargain, so hurry to secure your copy before they are all gone.
Families and Schools Together (FAST)
We will be running our highly successful FAST again in Term 1, 2023 in partnership with CLAN Midland. FAST is an evidence based, family strengthening program for families with primary school aged children. At FAST, you get to spend quality time with your family without the distractions of everyday life. Have dinner with your family without worrying about the cooking or washing up!
Parents have kid free time to get to know other parents, while the kids are also getting to know each other and making friends.
What to expect at FAST:
- A free fun night out for your family
- Family activities
- Weekly prizes
- Parent time (child minding provided)
- Dinner provided each week
- Get to know other families at Arbor Grove

What has been happening in Room 16?
Room 16 has been working extremely hard on measurement and using scaled instruments to accurately and precisely measure the distance we can throw a boomerang! Initially we designed our own boomerangs and waited for some beautiful sunny weather to test if they really did fly back to us. We selected which tool would be most appropriate to measure the distance thrown, either a trundle wheel, measuring tape or ruler. We have been using this information to collect data and create bar graphs. We found that the most common distance a year 4 student will throw a boomerang is over 10 meters. We are now looking at some different ways to show our data using line graphs and pie charts. We are looking forward to our next mathematics investigation!
2022 Inter School Athletics
On Wednesday 26 October and Friday 28 October, over 100 students represented Arbor Grove at the 2022 EISA Inter School Athletics Carnival. All students demonstrated good sportsmanship and respect to others, as well as try their very best throughout the day. We are very proud to announce that Arbor Grove finished 1st overall, for the 2nd year in a row. Congratulations to all the teachers and students involved and thank you to all the parents, family and friends who came out to support!
