Principal's Perspective

I would like to start this newsletter by congratulating the P&C on the recent disco which was a wonderful success and another example of how our P&C provides wonderful activities for the students and families of our school. The P&C make such a vital contribution to the school and the students and I am pleased to acknowledge the efforts of this dedicated team of parents.

Well done to our kindergarten teachers and kindergarten students for an amazing assembly. The students sang with great enthusiasm and joy. I would also like to thank the staff that assisted in the assembly item.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish the graduating year 6 students the best for their final week of primary school. I hope they enjoy their Graduation assembly.

Hot Weather

Over the last week or so we have had some unseasonal very hot weather. During this hot spell the school has enacted its Extreme Weather Policy. This has included students being kept off the playground and in the air conditioning at lunchtimes, extra drink breaks and the restriction on outdoor activities. The policy is published on our school website should parents wish to review our processes.

Swimming Lessons

This week the year 5 and 6 students have been enjoying swimming lessons at Mullaloo Beach. Thanks to Mrs McCabe for organising the lessons. I am sure the students have enjoyed the water and sea breeze.

Awards Assembly Wednesday 18 December

I hope to see lots of parents at our awards ceremony Wednesday 18 December. It is always a treat being able to recognise those that have demonstrated academic excellence as well as citizenship. In addition to the academic awards and Arbor Values awards we will announce the 2020 Student Leaders and Faction Captains.

School Board

Thank you to the School Board for the work they have done this year, our first as an Independent Public School. We will have one vacancy for a parent representative on the Board that we will fill early in the new year. We would encourage all parents to give consideration to this opportunity. The Board meet twice a term on a Tuesday evening. More details, including the nomination and voting process will be available at the start of the new school year.

Staffing Changes

At this time of year we say goodbye to some of our staff who will not be with us next year. I would like to thank these staff members for all that they have contributed to the school this year and in some cases over a number of years. We farewell Ms Pleece, Ms Wild, Miss Cooper, Mrs Keating, Miss Wilks, Ms Lamason, Mrs Iveson, Mrs Bandy, Mrs Harper, Ms Golding and Mr Ludlow and wish them every success with their retirement or future careers.

In 2020 we will be welcoming some new staff Mr Bish, Mr Williams, Mrs Ellen, Mrs Starling, Mrs Seymour, Miss Purdy and Miss Proudmore.

Week 10 Happenings

Arbor Day celebrations are scheduled for week 10 and I look forward to seeing the many students who have demonstrated the ARBOR values consistently over the year enjoying a fun end of year activity. I would like to thank the school’s PBS Committee for organising the day and ensuring such a safe and fun time for all.

Reports are due out in Week 10 as well as students being advised of their classrooms and teachers for 2020. Please note that we have renumbered the rooms for 2020, however there has been no change to the blocks (eg Galenia is PP and Yr 1, Corymbia is Yr 2 etc). I hope that this minor change is not too confusing.

I would like to finish this newsletter by wishing all the staff, students and parents a safe and happy Christmas and New Year. I hope we see you all back safe and sound for an exciting 2020.
