In Focus
Room 16
A very good afternoon and welcome to Week 7. Over the last few weeks, Room 16 has gotten right back into the ‘swing of things’ and many students are producing great work and trying really hard to bring all of their ARBOR Values to school every day.

This term for our writing task, we have been using a ‘Talk4Writing’ approach to our learning. This is where the students learn a text using actions, pictures and oral rehearsals. The aim is to improve the language and structure the students use within a text, and to assist in the standard and quality of their writing. The current text we are innovating is titled: ‘Should Walruses Be Allowed in Schools?’
For our first Art task of the term, students were asked to draw and create a face. The students were then required to cut, colour and re-create their face to appear ‘fractured’ or dis-jointed. Students were also shown images of the painter Pablo Picasso and similarities between his style and our ‘Fractured Faces’ was discussed.
Finally, in Health this term we are discussing ‘protective behaviours.’ Students brainstormed various early warning signs we experience when anxious or worried and placed them on a human template using icons. Here are just a few examples.
The students in Room 16 are working very hard and I personally, am extremely proud of their efforts. I hope the whole community is happy, healthy and staying safe. Let’s finish off the term demonstrating our ARBOR Values and setting high standards!
