In Focus

Room 5

We have been super busy in room 5! In History we have been making some timelines of our families. We had to put them in order from the oldest person to the youngest.

In Maths we are starting to look at money, what each coin looks like and understanding the value of each coin. We have also been learning to measure the length of objects correctly using 1cm cubes.

When we finish our work we have lots of hands on activities that we can do to practice and consolidate the skills that we have been learning.

We have been doing a lot of comprehension activities in Literacy. We have been focussing on writing full sentence answers with a capital letter, gaps in our words and full stops. Below are some pictures of what we have been doing.

Room 7

In room 7 year 1, we have been learning to use a new Instructional Strategy called Inside-outside circle.

Inside-outside circle is a cooperative learning strategy. Students form two concentric circles and take turns on rotation to face new partners to answer or discuss the teacher's questions. This method can be used to gather a variety of information, generate new ideas and problem solve.

By rotating the place of where the student sits in the circle, this means that the students work with different peers.

In these photos, you can see we are in our circles. We were discussing our story of the week “Room on the Broom” by Julia Donaldson.
