Arbor Grove Kindergarten Transition 2021 - PALS
PALS Social Skills Program teaches children from 3 to 6 years of age about greeting others, listening, sharing, taking turns, dealing with feelings of fear, sadness and anger, and solving problems. Learning social skills like these in early childhood is just as important as learning numeracy and literacy.
The early childhood and early school years are when children start to make friends, learn to cooperate with others and begin to solve social problems. Like all skills, some children develop social skills more easily than others. Social skills are of the utmost importance for every child’s future development.
The program consists of nine sessions, each one focussing on a particular skill. Each week you will receive information telling you about the skill your child is learning. The parent information sheets will also contain suggestions for how you can help your child develop each skill at home. This program will run in Term 4 every Thursday morning at 9:00am and 10.15am in EC3 classroom.
If you have a little one attending Kindergarten in 2021 at Arbor Grove Primary School who could benefit from attending a PALS group, why not secure your spot right now. Places are filling fast. If you would like any further information, please contact the school.

Testimonials
I believe the PALS program was a fantastic course for my son as it helped prepare him for Kindy and it also reinforced topics taught at home such as sharing, taking turns and waiting for your turn. My son really enjoyed going and meeting other children. I would definitely recommend this particular course to all parents.

My daughter was involved in the PALS program at Arbor Grove Primary. She is a well behaved child but very shy and sometimes clingy. Following the PALS social skills program her confidence increased dramatically. She couldn’t wait to go back. I firmly believe that this program helped my daughter, especially imparting her with skills required for her transition to Kindy.

Swimming Lessons
Interm Swimming notes for Year 5 and 6 students have been sent out. The lessons will be conducted at Mullaloo Beach between Monday 7 December and Friday 11 December, Week 9 Term 4. There are approximately 180 places available to the school. The cost associated with the In-term Swimming Program/Transport is $35.00 per student. It is important to complete the enrolment forms and return them to the school with payment no later than 3.30pm Wednesday 11 November 2020.
All lessons are 80 mins in length and all lessons will be completed within the school day. Please ensure clothes, goggles and towels are clearly marked with your child’s full name. Students will need to wear their bathers under their clothes on the way to the beach. Students are encouraged to wear thongs to and from the beach due to time limitations.
Student participation is strongly encouraged as the program forms part of our Physical Education curriculum and develops your child’s water safety and swimming skills. Students not attending swimming lessons will remain at school and be provided with an educational program.

Eating Breakfast
There has recently been an increased amount of students eating their recess and lunch before school, while waiting for the classrooms to open. It is really important that students have breakfast before coming to school. We hold Breakfast Club on a Thursday morning for all students from 7:50am to 8:30am. Studies show that kids who eat breakfast do better in school, have better concentration, have fewer behaviour problems and are more energetic.
