In Focus
Room 8
This term in room 8, we have been learning about time, place value and addition in mathematics.
In addition, we have been learning different strategies to help us add two numbers together. These have included:
COUNTING ON
We count on from the largest number and add the second number to it. We do this by putting the largest number in our head then use our fingers to add the second number to it.

BRIDGING TO TEN
We are learning what two numbers go together to equal ten.
TURN AROUND FACTS
When we have a number sentence, we know we can switch the first two numbers around (addends) to make a new number sentence. We know the total will always stay the same. (8 + 6 = 14 6 + 8 = 14)We are learning different strategies to solve addition questions, so we can pick the best way to solve our addition questions.
Room 10
This term the students of room 10 have enjoyed participating in lots of engaging learning experiences to develop and consolidate their understandings in mathematics. They have been learning about Place Value, Addition, Subtraction and Fact Families.
When working in partners and small groups they have been working really hard to work cooperatively and support each other by using their ARBOR Values.
