Kindy Transition – “Little Groves”
Parents/carers of children starting kindergarten at Arbor Grove Primary School in 2022 are invited to attend Kindy Transition, a free social skills program as part of our Kindergarten Transition Program.
The program will run for nine weeks each Thursday at the Arbor Grove Child & Parent Centre. We encourage that only one parent attends and no siblings, if possible.
To ensure every child and family is able to participate in the Kindy Transition we will be offering two sessions.
Session 1: 9:00 – 10:00am
Session 2: 10:15 – 11:15am
For more information, or to register, please contact Arbor Grove Primary School’s Administration Office 6497 4800.
EISA Cross Country Carnival
On Friday 30 July, 40 students ranging from years 3-6 were given the opportunity to represent the school at the 2021 EISA Cross Country Carnival. On a gloomy day, the students did a fantastic job to stay positive by showing good sportsmanship and continuously demonstrating high enthusiasm throughout the day!
Arbor Grove came 3rd overall with many of our students achieving fantastic results individually.
Dylan | 1st Year 6 Boys |
Hannah | 1st Year 6 Girls |
Ellie | 1st Year 5 Girls |
Well done to all of the staff and students who attended on the day and for representing the school with pride!

NAIDOC Week 2021
On Wednesday 28 July Arbor Grove Primary School students attended this year’s NAIDOC assembly.
The ceremony was opened by Justin Martin who gave the Welcome to Country.
After the Welcome to Country the Year 5 students from Room 20 did an amazing job of the Emu in the Sky dreamtime story. Well done Mrs Brosnan and Room 20!
Alton Walley then addressed the students and discussed the theme of NAIDOC “HEAL COUNTRY”. He also taught the students a song in Noongar language about looking at country from the Darling Range to Kings Park.
The ceremony ended with a traditional smoking ceremony and the Aboriginal students standing around the beautiful sand art mural designed by Acacia Collard.
The students from Kindy to Year 3 then attended a cultural workshop with Alton Walley where they learnt about traditional Aboriginal tools.
On Friday 30 July the whole school attended a performance by Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse. The students really impressed Gina and Guy with how well they sang Wanjoo our school song. The younger students made Gina teary when they sang Djinda Djinda (twinkle twinkle) in Noongar. All students sang along with Gina and Guy and I was impressed with the great questions they asked them.
During the week students watched the Perth Festival Noongar Storytelling for primary schools. I was impressed with the questions the students have asked me during the week after watching these stories.
Thank you to all students and parents for the respect that has been shown to the Sand Mural, it still looks great.
