The students of Room 21 in full Talk for Writing mode with a twist...

Room 21 has been working to perform an old Louis Armstrong song at their upcoming assembly. They will be showing how oral and movement aspects can be used in combination to help students engage and memorise what they are learning in class. This term we are looking at poetry and “What a Wonderful World” has a rhyme characteristic which compliments the learning of poetry. Room 21 is extremely excited to present their item at 9:00 am on Wednesday 3 November at the Assembly.

Within the Talk 4 Writing process is an ‘Innovate Stage’. This stage of the process allows the students to input their ideas into the written piece. It is a co-creation stage in which the teacher mentions an idea and the students innovate to improve and come up with what they feel as a group would be a more suitable word or action.

This was the case with "What a Wonderful World". As a class we discussed ideas and worked through a basic action compared to a word or phrase and then performed the action followed by more class discussion to innovate to a more appropriate action.
