Focus
Kindy EC1 and EC2
Maths Week
During Maths Week, Kindy participated in a whole school maths challenge – Which is bigger, your hand or your foot? It was up to each student to determine what was meant by ‘bigger’ and how to measure it. Here we are investigating length, width, perimeter and area using uniform units to measure with.

We also had lots of fun participating in our Maths rotation groups. We looked at addition with our Lego cities, explored the features of 2D shapes using matchsticks and playdough, measured the length of our friends using lots of different materials and had a go at making a simple graph.

Talk for Writing
In Kindy we use the Talk for Writing program. This term our focus was fairy tales and we talked about parts of the story, characters and how the characters feel. After the school holidays we received a special letter from Percy the Pig asking us to help him build a house for him and his brothers. We used a story map to retell the story, using props and gestures. As a group we built a house for Percy the Pig and then tested how strong it was. We also made the three little pigs houses using craft and construction. We made paper plate pigs and role played the story.

Messy Play
This term we were lucky enough to get messy! We all participated in a messy play day where we explored different sensory mediums such as coloured spaghetti, shaving foam and mud pies. We also investigated painting with ice and were lucky enough to dip our feet in glitter water.
